Academic Tutoring
Many students find their classes more challenging than they imagined with language and cultural differences playing very significant roles. To help student address these challenges Weiming works with experienced bilingual and bicultural tutors to provide students the opportunity to improve their understanding of course content in both English and Chinese. For some students this regular bilingual support can make the difference between floating through school completely lost and being able to understand and complete their courses.
Weiming America’s subject tutoring program is focused on supporting students academically as they take American high school courses in English. Tutoring is customized to meet each student’s needs. Tutors have in-depth experience with the American education system, they are bilingual in English and , hold at least a master’s degree, and have extensive experience and/or a degree in the subjects they tutor. One-on-one tutoring allows tutors to give students the personal attention they need to specifically address their situation.
Customized tutoring that suits the needs of each student:
This is one of the main advantages that the Weiming tutoring program provides. As a one stop shop for study abroad, tutoring provided by Weiming takes into account student’s grades and individual characteristics when putting together a comprehensive tutoring plan. Tutoring plans aim to improve not only students’ academic performance, but also their ability to think ahead and focus.
Experience with the American education system:
American education has different expectations of students than a typical Chinese education does. Having tutors who understand what teachers at school expect from students and who know how to help students meet those expectations, keeps students on the right track and improves tutoring efficiency.
Fully bilingual & bicultural tutors:
For students whose English is less advanced, bilingual tutors who know the specialized vocabulary in both languages and understand both the student and the course objectives are essential for student success. These tutors can form a bridge of understanding, not only teaching the student to overcome language barriers, but also by helping guide the student to understand the purpose and context of the course content. For students whose English level is more advanced and would prefer tutoring all in English, English only tutors can be arranged.
